I have just finished my website and thought this would be as good a time as any to start with the blog.
I have wanted to start a travel blog as long as I have been traveling. I would buy a cute travel journal and either forget to bring it along or just stopped writing after 2 or 3 days. I don’t know what is going to make it different this time around, but at least I can’t forget to pack it!
The plan so far is to leave for New Zealand in 2027, probably around September. In the meantime I intend to get my nursing degree. This way I have more choice in jobs, once there.
I am an anesthetic technician and the job differs a tremendous amount from what I’m used to here in the Netherlands.
Here I assist the anesthesiologist, but I also, independently, monitor and administer anesthetic to the patient during surgery.
In New Zealand the job is a lot “simpler”, no preparation or administration of medication, no independently monitoring patients during surgery. My tasks will be taking care of the stock in the OR and assisting the anesthesiologist with putting the patients to sleep and waking them up again. A lot of responsibilities will be taken away, which I really regret. That is what makes the job fun and interesting. But this won’t deter me from going.
Once there I will see if I like it or maybe I can do a course do get some responsibilities “back”. Or maybe do something completely different, who knows?!?!
But, I hear you ask, what will you be writing about in the coming time? You’re not leaving for 3 years….
Well, during preparations for the big move and saving up, I intend to enjoy myself here in Europe!
I also have plans to work on Bonaire in the Dutch Antilles for about 3 months and volunteer on Mercy Ships, a floating hospital of the coast somewhere in Africa.
I would love for you to join me on my journey to New Zealand and in the mean time, enjoy my Europe and work trips!
Love you all!
